So that, river water doesn't get depleted in coming future years. So that, our children & grand children see the river in good condition. He himself has even penned a song in Kannada. Kaveri River.
Kaveri (Cauvery) is an Indian river flowing through the states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. It is the third largest river – after Godavari and Krishna – in South India, it even bisects the Tamilnadu state into North and South. Originating in the foothills of Western Ghats at Talakaveri, Kodagu in Karnataka it flows generally south and east through Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, emptying into the Bay of Bengal. Amongst the river valleys, the Kaveri delta forms one of the most fertile regions in the country.
The Kaveri basin is estimated to be 81,155 square kilometers with many tributaries including Harangi, Hemavati, Kabini, Bhavani, Lakshmana Tirtha, Noyyal and Arkavati. The river basin covers three states and a Union Territory as follows: Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, and Puducherry. It then flows southeast to enter the Bay of Bengal. In Chamarajanagar district it forms the island of Shivanasamudra, on either side of which are the scenic Shivanasamudra Falls
The river is the source for an extensive irrigation system and for hydroelectric power. The river has supported irrigated agriculture for centuries in South India. It Tributaries include: Harangi, Hemavati, Lakshmana Tirtha Amaravathi, Bhavani, Kabini & Noyyal Rivers.
Access to the river's waters has put Indian states against each other for decades. As per an order by the Indian Supreme Court on 16 February 2018, Karnataka will get 284.75 tmc ft, Tamil Nadu will get 404.25 tmc ft, Kerala will get 30 tmc ft and Puducherry will get 7 tmc ft, 10 tmc ft will be reserved for Environmental Protection.
Sadhgruru Sh. Jaggi Vasudev has started a movement to save river Kaveri & it is being called as "Cauvery calling". In this, willing person can donate INR 42 to plant a tree on river banks. More in below videos.
